Middle School ELA / Civics Teacher (Full-time)
Location
Holy Cross Lutheran School – North Miami, FL
Description
Our school is seeking an experienced and passionate educator to teach English Language Arts and Civics to students in grades 6 through 8.
This dual-role teacher will foster a classroom environment that cultivates strong literacy and civic understanding. In ELA, the teacher will develop students’ skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing—essential tools for literate and thoughtful citizenship. They will inspire an appreciation of both classic and contemporary literature, encourage students to read for both information and enjoyment, and guide them in developing clear, critical thinking through written and oral communication.
In Civics, the teacher will help students understand the foundations of American government, civic responsibility, and the rights and duties of citizens. Through engaging instruction and discussion, the teacher will prepare students to be informed, active participants in a democratic society. They will emphasize historical context, current events, and the values of civic engagement, while also encouraging respectful dialogue and critical analysis of societal issues.
The ideal candidate will be committed to supporting each student’s growth, recognizing individual strengths and needs, and instilling in students a strong sense of responsibility, both academically and as members of their communities.
